I am a certified coach with training in psychotherapy. My lifelong passion has been exploring what it is to be human, with our different personalities and histories and how we can move forward in a way that is aligned to ourselves and others and become more creative. I graduated in Human Sciences from Cambridge University, and completed a PhD in Université Paris II Assas, under the directorship of French philosopher Philippe Raynaud, in the domain of identity and change. Both my own life experience and work coaching people have led me to the conviction that the key to knowing who and what you want to become is firstly understanding and accepting who you already are. As Carl Jung said: “Wholeness is not achieved by cutting off a portion of one’s being but by integration of the contraries”.
This dual process of understanding and accepting who you already are is important in all coaching work, as it is necessary for developing your own authentic persective and gaining the clarity needed to move forward consciously. I draw on systemic coaching, Jungian analytical psychology and use different tools including the MBTI (Myers Briggs Type indicator based on the work of Carl Jung) and art therapy to structure the coaching process and ensure a holistic understanding of what is at stake for the individual or group.
In the last ten years, I have, in addition to working with individuals through coaching, worked with different organisations to develop training and coaching programmes to build cross-cultural understanding and inclusive cultures that value diversity. Born and raised in Wales and speaking a minority language, I have always been sensitive to people’s need to be recognized and accepted for who they are, believe in the richness of diversity and admire people who have the courage to be who they are without hiding parts of themselves. It has always been important for me to question and overcome stereotypes. I feel honoured to be able to teach programmes on identity and belonging and optimising diversity, at Sciences Po, in Paris. The different students I meet from all over the world, whose singular challenges each time call for new insights, inspire me to learn more and be connected with the desires, ideas and sense of purpose that drive young people today.
